Today, the senate had a “test vote” on the economic “stimulus,” or “bailout,” or whatever they want to call it this month. First, my friend Kurt Wallace went on air and rocked for five or so hours. I then took over, and continued for another four, until the news came through. The whole time, I tried calling Senator Specter, one of Pennsylvania’s two senators. I never did get through, getting only busy signals and one “All Circuits are Busy” error. Imagine my rage when I found out that three republican senators – two from Maine and he switched their position, forsaking their supposed conservative beliefs to vote for this travesty. In the incredible two-part episode of Star Trek the Next Generation entitled Unification, a Romulan senator named Pardek befriends Spock for eighty years, then betrays him to his government. When I think of Senator Specter now, I can only think of that traitor Pardek. I hope Specter has a good job lined up in 2010, for when we vote this traitor out of office.
Well, those traitors did it! They passed the bailout! I feel like I did on 9/11, except that most people don’t realize it. I don’t even really know what to say. Some members of congress reported that they received threats that if they voted no, martial law would occur. People I tried to tell this to wrote it off, seeming not to take into account that this doesn’t come from me, it comes from members of the house of representatives saying this on the floor broadcast live on cspan! Oh well, don’t worry, the Phillies made the playoffs! I feel like the hobbits fighting the common evil, while their friends and families go about their lives in the shire, completely unaware of the danger. Goddess help us.
We had a great show at its new rightful time of 09:00 PM eastern time on Sunday nights. We covered the following articles:

We also played some nutty music, and celebrated my brother’s wedding. I had fun smoking a cigar!
We must stop this bailout! Now they’ve started calling it a rescue plan, to try to pacify the sheep, but it hasn’t worked. I just phoned my two senators and representative. Follow this link to get the phone numbers for the appropriate contacts for your area. Call them and let them know what you think. If you need some ammo, check out the Campaign for Liberty.
Senator Specter opposes the bailout. I got Senator Casey’s machine, but left a message anyway. I figured the republicans would oppose it, then held my nose as I entered democratic territory with our representative, Joe Sestak. I feel like I got the run-around. The guy said that Sestak awaits the full text of the bill, and will make his decision then. He promised me that a public statement would appear on his web site, so we shall see. I have a feeling he will vote for it.
Don’t feel nervous about calling your congresspeople. You just have to say a few things over the phone, or leave a message. Remember that numbers matter. For every constituent who calls, many others do not, and they take this into account. Pick up the phone and call. You will really feel like you made a difference.
